Highlights from the week
A church service was held in the chapel on Sunday morning and in the afternoon the Military Order of the Cooties came for Bingo and BBQ supper. Also, the Methodist Church came in and provided communion for the members.
A card game was played on Monday morning and in the afternoon residents enjoyed a Cinco de Mayo party with food, drinks, and games.
The local Wal-Mart was the highlight for a shopping trip on Tuesday morning followed by a Bible study in the afternoon. Also, in the afternoon we held a reception serving cake and ice cream for the May MVH Salute where Allen Leverett was recognized as May 2014 Resident of the Month. Tami Grawe was recognized as the MVH Employee of the Month for May and Michael Jennings as the Rookie of the Month.
The card players enjoyed a game of cards on Wednesday morning and also a Lutheran service was provided. In the afternoon, American Legion Post No. 26 of Mexico sponsored a Bingo game.
Bingo and pool were enjoyed by the residents on Thursday morning followed by a Catholic communion in the chapel. In the afternoon, the State Farm Military Affinity Group from Columbia sponsored a Bingo game.
Jokes and trivia were enjoyed by a small group on Friday morning in the activity room and in the afternoon Audrey and Sam played music for everyone.
The “Road Riders for Jesus” came for a visit on their bikes on Saturday morning and in the afternoon music was provided by the “Front Porch Pickers” from Columbia.
Tami Grawe, Custodial Worker, was recognized at a reception as the May 2014 Employee of the Month. Tami has been employed at the facility since November 2004. Congratulations, Tami.
MVH Salutes….Allen Leverett as the May 2014 Resident of the Month. Mr. Leverett served in the United States Army from 1952 – 1954 during the Korean War. Congratulations and thank you, Allen.
The VFW Post No. 3772 will meet on Tuesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. in the dining room at the facility. All VFW members are welcome to attend.
The Alzheimer Support Group will meet on Wednesday, May 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the facility. The public is welcome to attend.
A Memorial Day Service will be held at the facility on Monday, May 26 at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
