Missouri Veterans’ Home in Mexico highlights

A church service was held in the chapel on Sunday morning.  Card players gathered in the dining room on Monday afternoon for a game of “Pass the Trash.”  An anonymous donor sponsored a bingo game on Tuesday morning followed by a Bible study in the chapel.  A Lutheran service was held later in the day and in the evening the local VFW #3772 met for their monthly meeting.  American Legion Post #26 sponsored a bingo game on Wednesday morning and in the afternoon the Veterans Council meeting was held.  Bingo and pool were the highlights on Thursday morning and in the afternoon a group went to Wal-Mart for their shopping needs.  Friday morning was a meet and greet with the new residents at which time donuts and coffee were served.  The Mexico Elks sponsored an Essay contest entitled “What a Veteran Means To Me,” for the local 8th grade students and the winners came out to the facility and read their essay and had lunch with the residents. A pool tournament was held in the afternoon and that evening a group went to the Mexico Elks Lodge for a Catfish Dinner.  Kid’s Bingo sponsored by Pin Oaks Nursing Home and Missouri Veterans Home Relay For Life teams was held on Saturday morning and in the afternoon the Good Timers Band entertained with their music.
VFW Post #3772 will meet on Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the dining room at the facility.  All VFW members are welcome to attend. Alzheimer Support Group will meet on Wednesday, May 22nd at 1:30 p.m. at the facility.  Public is welcome.
