Missouri Veterans Home

Highlights from the week:
Sunday activities included church service in the morning and our lady veterans enjoyed a little pampering by having manicures.  Special Care veterans also enjoyed reminiscing, socials, bingo and chair yoga exercise throughout the day. On Monday, veterans enjoyed jokes and trivia. Afternoon activity was a “Pass the Trash” card game. Special Care veterans also enjoyed story time, socials, music provided by Audrey and Virginia, as well as ring toss.
Tuesday morning, veterans enjoyed watching St. Brendans’ kindergarten class hunt Easter eggs. Afternoon activity included bible study and Veterans’ Council where various issues were discussed. Special Care residents also enjoyed morning greetings, music and dance, arts and crafts, Lutheran service, and socials.
On Wednesday morning, Special Care residents enjoyed candy bar bingo and fly swatter volley ball as well as Shamrock shakes in the afternoon. Easter egg hunters from Eugene Field and Hawthorne visited on Wednesday morning. A bingo game was played Wednesday afternoon in memory of Dan Gode.
On Thursday, veterans participated in bingo, shooting pool and drawing with a brush. Afternoon activities included a visit from McMillan kindergartners and St. Patrick’s bingo sponsored by American Legion Post No. 55.  Special Care veterans also participated in memory and socials.
On Friday, veterans participated in a coffee and discussion group.  Afternoon activities included Catholic Communion, Hi/Low card game and a trip to Knights of Columbus fish fry. Special Care veterans also participated in woodworking, painting pictures, and socials.
On Saturday, Special Care veterans enjoyed homemade bread and coffee, hand massages, and ball toss. Other activities that veterans participated in were Mexican train dominoes and bingo in memory of John Roy Turnbough.
Spotlights:
Alzheimer Support Group will meet on Wednesday, April 20 at the facility. The public is welcome to attend.
