On Tuesday, September 22, at approximately 7:35 a.m., Mexico Public Safety responded to the 1000 block of N. Washington in reference to a burglary that had occurred the night before.
The victim reported that during the evening hours of Monday, September, 21, he awoke to find a man in his house and that it looked like the man was attempting to steal a television. When confronted, the suspect left the house.
The victim then began to realize other items were missing from the house and called MPSD.
At approximately 9:56 a.m., an officer in the area of the 1000 block of N. Washington saw a person who matched the description of the suspect in this case.
D’Sean Burton, age 17, of Mexico, was arrested and taken to MPSD.
He was later taken to the Audrain County Jail to post bond on the charges of Burglary 1st degree, Stealing under $500, and Property Damage 2nd degree.
Citizens are reminded that people arrested and/or charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
