On Tuesday, Oct. 20., at 3:52 p.m., officers from the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) responded to a crash at the intersection of Love Street and North Western Street.
Jodi O’Keefe, 62, of Mexico, was driving East on West Love Street in a 2016 Nissan Rogue. After stopping at the stop sign, O’Keefe entered the intersection and collided with a northbound 2002 Honda Civic driven by Paris Bigby, 16, of Mexico.
At approximately 4:16 p.m., Officer Brice Mesko says that MPSD received a call that a man in dark clothing was in some sort of argument or altercation in the area of the Audrain County Post Office on West Jackson Street. The caller reported that during the altercation the man appeared to have a gun and was last seen in the 400 block of West Love Street.
Mesko said this incident was unrelated to the crash.
Detectives and other officers responded to the area and were unable to locate the man. As part of the search, MPSD detectives checked the Town Branch creek, across from the At Home Daycare center on Love Street, “in the event the man was trying to hide” in the creek or the wooded area there.
Two days later, on Oct. 22, the FBI Kansas City issued a press release that it was searching for Christopher B. Rogan, who resides in both Kansas City and St. louis. On Oct. 23, there was a headline in the Mexico Ledger stating that Rogan “may be in the Mexico area.” The story was widely circulated and shared over 50 times on the Ledger’s Facebook page. The news story cited anonymous “officials” and provided no details or sources linking Rogan to the area.
In response to the Leader’s inquiry about Rogan, MPSD stated that the “FBI has not requested specific assistance from MPSD in locating Rogan, nor have they passed on information that Rogan may be in Mexico.”
The FBI press release stated that Rogan, 44, is considered armed and dangerous with violent tendencies. He has tattoos on both ankles, both arms, both legs, his chest and an “R” on his forearm. His left ear and tongue are pierced. He is 5’9”, 154 pounds.
Rogan is wanted for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to commit money laundering in Kansas City from January 2017 to July 2020. He is also wanted for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine in St. Louis from January 2015 to September 2019.
If you have any information about Rogan, call the FBI’s Kansas City Field Office at 816-512-8200 or the St. Louis Field Office at 314-589-2500.
