On Monday, May 24, 2021 at approximately 6:06PM, the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 1000 block of W Breckenridge in reference to a disturbance involving a gun. While officers were in that area, there was a crash reported in the 300 block of N Missouri with the driver walking away from the scene. Initial investigation indicated that a 30 year-old Mexico man had come to a home on Breckenridge, several times throughout the day, threatening the residents. The residents had called MPSD earlier, but the man had left prior to officer arrival and officers had been unable to locate him. The man returned and began shooting at the home when one of the residents shot back at the man. The man then drove from the scene, crashed his car on N Missouri, walked to a nearby house, and received a ride to Audrain Community Hospital. He was treated at the hospital and Audrain Ambulance District transported him to MU Hospital in Columbia, where he was admitted for further treatment.
