On Saturday, June 19, at approximately 7:53 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department responded to the 900 block of Curtis in reference to a motorcycle crash.
Responding personnel found that Richard C. Dollens, 25, of Mexico, was operating a 2007 Yamaha westbound when he lost control and left the roadway.
The motorcycle struck a guy wire of a utility pole and a hand rail running along a sidewalk before coming to rest in a small creek.
Dollens came to rest on the sidewalk. He was transported from the scene by Audrain Ambulance District and taken to Audrain Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The incident is still under investigation. Dollens was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
