A rainy morning didn’t keep area residents from remembering “those who have gone before them” at the Faith Tabernacle COGIC Memory Walk held this past Saturday.
The ceremony opened with the song “Walk with Jesus.”
An opening prayer was given by Rev. Melvin McCaleb, of Second Christian Church in Vandalia.
Sister “B” Jackson gave the scripture reading and Sister Carol Smith opened the time for folks to begin sharing memories of lost loved ones.
She noted that every step on the walk is a story as there is a memory in every step.
Chris Clark and Nada Smith also shared some memories, among others.
Rev. McCaleb noted that attendees need to remember to take the time to listen to the “old folks.”
Robin Terrell added that the things said in the past are also for the present.
After remarks were shared, the Memory Walk started at the Faith Tabernacle COGIC, went down Home St., and ended on Main St. just pass the four way intersection of State and Main Streets.
