Memorial Day Services will be Monday, May 30 beginning at Farber Cemetery at 8:30 a.m. Services at the Memorial Garden will be at 9 a.m., at the Vandalia Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., and at the VFW Post No. 2173 at 10 a.m.
At the VFW Post No. 2173, Larry Shaw will give the welcome and opening comments. The Reverend Robert Hoehn, of Spencer Creek Baptist Church, will give the invocation and the Presentation of Colors will be given by the VFW Post.
The National Anthem will be sung by Kevin Morris and the Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Shaw. The St. Cecelia Music Club will sing “God Bless America” and everyone is invited to join in.
Shaw will introduce the guest speaker, the Reverend Helen McFarland.
After Reverend McFarland speaks, St. Cecelia Music Club will sing, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and the VFW Post and Auxiliary will present the Gravesite Service. Afterward, the VFW Post will give a Rifle Salute and Taps and Echo will be played by the Van-Far Chiefs Band.
