This year’s Memorial Day Services have been set for Monday, May 25.
The major change for this year is there will be no service held at the Curryville Cemetery.
Services will be held starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Farber Cemetery followed by a 9 a.m. service at Memorial Garden.
A 9:30 a.m. service will be held at the Vandalia Cemetery.
An indoor service will be held at 10 a.m. inside the V.F.W. Hall in Vandalia.
This year’s guest speaker will be the Rev. Mike Barter, of the First Baptist Church in Vandalia.
Larry Shaw will welcome those in attendance before the Rev. Bob Hoehn gives the invocation.
Vandalia’s Kevin Morris will sing the “National Anthem.”
The “Pledge of Allegiance” will be led by Shaw.
The St. Cecilia Music Club follows by singing “God Bless America.” Club members are looking forward to those attending the event joining them in singing the patriotic song.
Shaw will then introduce the Rev. Barter as speaker.
The St. Cecilia Music Club will follow by singing the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
A graveside service will be held as presented by the V.F.W. Post No. 2173 and Ladies Auxiliary.
A Rifle Salute will take place before the Van-Far Chiefs Band playing “Taps and Echo.”
