Melvin David Kaden, 62, of Pike County, entered into rest on July 12, 2013.
Melvin graduated from Monroe city R-1 High School in 1969 Ranked ninth out of 99. He went on to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia and Northeast Missouri State University, Kirksville. He was employed with Northeast Correctional Center. He served in the Missouri Army National Guard, 2175th MP Company Nov. 1971 – Nov. 1978.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather; he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. He also was a Registered Softball Umpire for the Amateur Softball Association of America, both high school and college. He was an avid Cardinals and Mizzou fan.
He is survived by: loving wife, Margaret Pettey Kaden; children, Aaron and Holly Kaden, Sara and Robert Brunsvold; step-children, Marcie and Robert Hernandez, Stacey and Stacey Watson; grandchildren, Remy, McKinley, Elli, Krista, Christopher, Jessie, Tucker, and Cody; siblings, Kathy Dent, Norman Kaden, and Carl Kaden.
A memorial service and celebration of Melvin’s life will be held at his residence in Pike Country on Aug. 3 at 2 p.m.
Those that are able or unable to attend the above services may also attend additional services held by his Children at Immanual Lutheran Church in West Ely, on Aug. 4 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
