Mary Frances Mudd, of Arnold, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Big Bend Woods Health Care Center in Valley Park at the age of 99 years, 10 months, and nine days. A memorial service will be held at New Harmony Christian Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, with Pastor Dawn Marie Turner officiating.  Family and friends are also invited to celebrate her life by gathering for a carry-in meal at noon that day in the church annex.
“Frances” was born on Sept. 8, 1914 in Curryville to Harve and Mattie Mae Mitchell Branstetter. She is survived by a son, Billy Mudd, and his wife, Bettye, of Arnold; one daughter-in-law, Wanda Mudd of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren, June Clark and Raymond Mudd of Arnold, and Brian Mudd of Lubbock, Texas; nine great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by one brother, Richard Branstetter of Bowling Green, and two sisters, Pat Grainge of Tulsa, Okla., and Shirley Tredway of Louisiana, along with three sisters-in-law, Erma Branstetter, Bowling Green, Frankie Branstetter, Curryville, and Sharon Branstetter, Florissant, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, John Edward, who died in infancy, and Eddie Mudd; one sister, Ruby Nolen; and six brothers, John, Bert, Elmer, Raymond, Joe, and Kemmie Branstetter. Memorials may be made to the New Harmony Christian Church, Curryville.
