Mary Elizabeth (Bishop) Fielder,  age 79, of Vandalia, passed away unexpectedly at 2:36 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. Service was held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Waters Funeral Chapel.
Officiating was the Rev. Bob Balwanz.
Music was provided by Wayne Lynn – soloist.
Interment of her cremains will take place at a later date.
Honorary Pallbearers were Rod Landers, Mike Cook, Judy Cullom, Noel Baker, Randy Lewis, and Carl Yager.
Mary Elizabeth (Bishop) Fielder was born on June 16, 1934 in Vandalia, Mo., the daughter of Clarence F. and Opal (Sidwell) Bishop.
She married Wayne Laird on May 8, 1953; she then married George Harlow on August 12, 1967; he preceded her in death; she married Gary E. Fielder on October 16, 1982; he preceded her in death on February 13, 2010.
Mary was a lifelong Vandalia area resident and attended Vandalia schools.
She had been a homemaker on the family farm all her married life. Mary enjoyed sewing, woodworking and crafts and spending time enjoying coffee with her friends.
Survivors include two sons, Boyd E. and wife, Kimberly Laird, of Farber; William R. Laird, of Fulton; two daughters, Mary Lou and husband Roy Lynn, of Vandalia; Toni A. Roberts, of Vandalia; one sister, Darlene Gatewood of Rockford, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Quinten Heaton, Jeremy Heaton, Amber Hodde, Lacey Reames, Stacy Laird, Lori Dubbs, Kristin Figueroa, Jessica Eads, Christina Maxwell, and Stephanie Cheesman; also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clarence F. Bishop II. Memorials are encouraged to the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church.
