Martinsburg to host picnic event on Sat., August 15-16

The Modern Woodmen of America Camp No. 2556 is hosting the annual Martinsburg Picnic with the theme “Duck Dynasty Comes to Martinsburg” Friday-Saturday, August 15-16.
On Friday night, the Baby Contest begins at 6 p.m.
Babies are to wear plain white T-shirts and a diaper or shorts with nothing in their hair. Categories for boys and girls range from 0-24 months.
The “Ultimate Image” is sponsoring the Little Mr. and Little Miss Contest, to follow the Baby Contest, for ages 3-5 years old. Contestants should wear clothing similar to what is seen in Duck Dynasty.
The Merry Martins 4-H Club will host a Cake Walk.
A Washer Tournament is slated for 7 p.m., with sign-up at 6 p.m. at the horseshoe pits. Cash prizes will be awarded. For more information, contact Matt Vomund at 573-564-8131.
The evening also includes a turtle and frog race, sponsored by the Jr. MWA.
A Look-A-Like Contest, featuring contestants dressing up like a member of the Roberson family, will be held for those 12 years and under.
There will also be a Pet Parade with a Duck Dynasty theme, a Duck Calling Contest, line dancing featuring a black and white illusion, and sounds from DJ Andy Baker.
On Saturday morning, the line-up for the parade will start at the stop sign on Highway 19 at 10 p.m. The parade starts at 11 a.m.
Awards will be given for a theme float, antique tractor, antique original, classic vehicle, kid’s entry, horse and rider.
The American Legion will present the arms following the parade. Prizes for the winners are donated by the Knights of Columbus No. 1270.
After the parade, there will be a Pedal Tractor Pull, sponsored by K&A Trailer Sales, LLC and MWA.
Ribbons for 1st-5th place will be given out for boys and girls ages 4-12 years.
Ron and Sherri Deimeke are allowing the use of the pedal tractors and sleds.

Sign-up at 3 p.m. will be held for contests recognizing the oldest person on the grounds and the person traveling the longest distance.
Guessing Games will be held until 3 p.m. for bean, button, and penny estimating. This is for kids ages 6-12.
Kids Games then start at 3 p.m. and feature a money scramble, bubble gum toss, three legged race, sack race, hula hoop contest, apple dunking, and doll buggy.
In the evening from 6-9 p.m., Andy Baker will provide musical entertainment. “Grandma’s Soup,” a bluegrass band, will follow from 9 a.m.-midnight.
Door prizes will be given away on Saturday throughout the day and folks must be present to win.
The Community Room by the Martinsburg Library will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with a display of “American Dream Talents.”
The Old City Jail will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. with a display of veterans and the military who have made the American dream possible.
Food stands are sponsored by Pork Producers, Audrain County R-VI FFA, and the Knights of Columbus. The Beer Garden is sponsored by the American Legion Post No. 0552.
