The Modern Woodmen of America Camp No. 2556 is just two weeks away from hosting the 2018 Martinsburg Picnic, Friday-Saturday, August 17-18.
Day one begins with a display showing picnics from the past from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the MWA Building.
Martinsburg History Books will also be sold for $25 per book with a five books limit.
The Baby Contest for ages 0-24 months starts at 6 p.m. Babies are to wear a plain white T-shirt along with diapers or shorts.
It is followed by the Little Mr. and Little Miss Contest, sponsored by Lisa Householder and “Ultimate Image.” The winner will ride in Saturday’s parade.
Sign-up starts at 6 p.m. for the Washer Tournament at the Horseshoe Pits. The contest starts at 7 p.m.

That evening will also feature a turtle and frog race as sponsored by the Marty and Darly Cassidy family.
The Merry Martins 4-H Club will hold a Cake Walk.
Audrain County’s R-VI FFA is holding the Super Farmer Contest at 7 p.m.
Events include Stick Horse (juniors), Grain Shoveling, Hay Stacking, and others.
Ages are 12 and under, 13-16, and 17+ with $5 entry fee per team.
On day two, the parade starts at 11 a.m. with the theme “Memorable Movies.”
Prizes are being donated by the Knights of Columbus No. 1270. Line-up for the parade starts at 10 a.m. and judging will take place at the same time.
Awards will be given for theme float, antique tractor, antique original vehicle, classic vehicle, kid’s entry, and horse with rider.
This year’s Floriculture and Horticulture Contest goes from 9:30-10 a.m. in the park pavilion.
Children categories include Best Tomatoes-Set of Six, Best Movie themed arrangement (choose favorite movie and design an arrangement around it), and Best Sunflower.
As for adult categories, they include they are Best Zinnia (large/small), Best Marigold (large/small), Best Tractor Themed Floral Arrangement, Best Potatoes (Set of Six), Best Onions (Set of Six), Best Rose, Best Succulents, Best Kitchen Floral Arrangement, Best Tomatoes (Set of Six), and Best Stalk of Corn.
The “Picnics of the Past” display will go from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. in the MWA Building.
Attendance Sign-Up and Guessing Games have sign-up after the parade with a drawing at 5 p.m.
The Pedal Tractor Pull for ages 4-12 start in the afternoon with the help of pedal tractors and sleds from Ronnie and Sherri Deimeke.
The Community R-VI Booster Club is sponsoring the Trojan Shoot-Out.
Age divisions are to be determined for the Free Throw and Perimeter Shoot with a $3 entry fee. Registration starts officially at 12:30 p.m. under the pavilion for the 1 p.m. competition.
Bounces Houses and the Rock Wall will be up from 1-7 p.m. Wrist bands will be sold for $5 for unlimited fun.
Kids games begin at 3 p.m. featuring the money scramble, bubble gum toss, sack race, three-legged race, hula hoop contest, watermelon eating, balloon toss, and tug-of-war.
Entertainment will be provided by Kelly Stanford from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m.
