Marie G. Orf, age 91, of Bowling Green passed Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at the Hannibal Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the St. Clement Catholic Church, with Fr. Bill Peckman officiating. Burial was in the St. Clement Cemetery.
Marie was born March 23, 1922 in Benton, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Elmer and Emma Christina Ehlers Brown.
On Jan. 28, 1948 at St. Clement, she married Ezra H. Orf. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2003.
Survivors include son, Danny Orf and wife Carolyn, of Bowling Green; daughters, Wanda Wilson and husband Gary, of Frankford, Janice Robinson and husband Philip, of Bowling Green, Carolyn Touchette, of Belleville, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gertie Orf, of Bowling Green, and Pauline Gibbs, of Frankford.
Preceding in death were son, Larry Ezra Orf; daughter, Shirley Jean Henderson; son-in-law, Joe Touchette; brothers, Ernest Brown, Earl (Sonny) Brown, Roy Brown, Junior Brown, Frederick (Fritz) Brown; and sister, Rachael Henderson.
She moved to the Bowling Green area, where she lived the rest of her life, at the age of six. She loved her animals, gardening, flowers, being outdoors, and working on the farm with her husband. Most of all she enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Marie was a member of the St. Clement Catholic Church and a former member of the St. Clement Ladies Sodality. Marie devoted her life to her Catholic faith and family, and was known as “Sweet Marie” by all who loved her.
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Wilson, Bryon Touchette, Jerad Robinson, Travis Henderson, Adam Orf, and Andy Orf. Honorary pallbearers will be Vance Wilson, Greg Touchette, and Austin Orf.
