A memorial gathering for Manford Lloyd Blair Sr., of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Elsberry, will be held at 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Centennial Methodist Church in Elsberry. The Rev. Brenda Cockrell, church pastor, will officiate with burial in Elsberry City Cemetery.
Mr. Blair, 72, passed away Oct. 8, 2013 at his home in Omaha, Neb. Born Feb. 19, 1941 in Elsberry, he was the son of Lloyd and Alberta Webster Blair. He was employed by Clayton Bullard Construction until his retirement. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Manford enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was loved by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Albert Blair, of Elsberry; one brother, Robert Blair; and four sisters, Gwendolyn Blair and Jeanette Blair, both of Elsberry, and Stella Paris and Lucille Clem, both of Springfield, Ill.
He was married to Louise Ray, formerly of Vandalia. This union was blessed with three children: Zinna Westfall, of Montgomery City; Manford Lloyd Blair Jr., of Montgomery City; Jeanette Smith and her husband, of Troy. Other children include Peter Lynn and Phillip Lee Blair, of Springfield, Ill. and Marsella Blair, of Omaha, Neb. Manford is also survived by three brothers, Kenneth Blair and his wife, Charlene, Wilford Blair and Randolph Blair, all of Omaha, Neb.; three sisters, Betty Grimmett, of Bowling Green, Beverly Kelly, of Springfield, Ill., and Wilma Jean Cook and her husband Paul, of Elk Grove, Calif.; and a special friend, Gayla Hardin, of Omaha, Neb. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
