M. Frances Wright, age 95 of Rush Hill, Mo., died on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Golden Living Center-Pin Oaks.
Frances was born August 18, 1916 to J.W. and Beulah Cornett Bigelow near Worcester, Mo. On January 27, 1934 she was married to Harry M. Wright of Vandalia, Mo.
Survivors include her children, Charles Eddie (Lucy) Wright of San Diego, Calif., Doris Walker (Lee) Gore and Bonnie Silvey, both of Mexico; grandchildren, Luz Maria Oceguera and Patricia Alvarez of San Diego, Calif., Julie (Tim) Kemplin of St. Petersburg, Fla., Tim (Leslie) Walker of Jackson, Mo., Jerry Williamson of Kirksville, Mo., Lisa (Dave) Neuendorf of Mexico, Brad (Shawn) Silvey of Warrensburg, Mo., and Belinda Silvey of Mexico; 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Hazel Riley and Mildred Adams of Mexico, and Alma Jo (Joe) Remley of Laddonia.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; one daughter, Carol Haythorn; one brother, Fielder Bigelow; two sons-in-law, Kenneth E. Walker and Russell (Bud) Silvey; and her parents.
Frances was very active in the small community of Rush Hill. She has been a member of the Rush Hill Community Church, where she taught Sunday school class and Bible School for many years. In the early 50’s a small group in Rush Hill decided to build a community center, Frances and her husband spent many years helping with this building and serving on the board. Sewing and quilting were a passion that Frances spent many hours at, teaching 4-H projects, making her daughters and granddaughters many dresses. She made each one of her children and grandchildren a quilt, which they treasure today. Frances donated over four gallons of blood to the Red Cross. For over 50 years, Frances worked in housekeeping and custodial work. She was very proud of the 17 years -over 3000 hours she volunteered at Audrain Medical Center. Frances and her husband contracted school buses to Community R-VI School for a number of years.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico with Rev. Bob Stanford officiating. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kilby Cemetery, southeast of Vandalia.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Williamson, Brad Silvey, Tim Walker, Garrett Benskin, Dave Neuendorf, Glenn Riley and Charles Bigelow. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Julie Kemplin, Lisa Neuendorf, Belinda Silvey, Luz Maria Oceguera and Patricia Alvarez.
