The Northeast Zone of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League held their Spring Rally on April 26 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Ely. The theme was “The Road Ahead” based on Jeremiah 6:16.
Mary Myers, the Northeast Zone President, opened the business meeting. Sharon Bode welcomed members to Immanuel.
Pastor Kenneth Schamber led the opening devotion entitled, “At the Crossroads,” where he spoke on our passage through life taking many directions but often it is hard to follow directions. We need to ask God for directions and He will help us to know where to go.
Mary Myers introduced former presidents and guests. The minutes of the previous rally were read and approved as read.
Carolyn Schreiner presented the treasurer’s report.
Sharon Bode reported that at the District Convention there will be an ingathering for the Back Pack Buddies and for Hillcrest
Ministries for housing for the homeless in the Kansas City area. The Missouri District Convention will be held in Kansas City June 20-22 with the theme “Carry His Light.”
Carolyn Scott, Organizational Resources Chairman, reported the Missouri District LWML has 253 societies and a total of 5,238 members.
Election of two offices was held. Dawn Neil was elected President and Carolyn Schreiner was re-elected Treasurer.
Following a delicious lunch the guest speaker was introduced by Marcia Schachtsiek.
Beth Foreman is the Feature Editor for the LWML Quarterly.
Each quarterly features a woman who has inspired many by what she has done with her life.
Beth has also written Bible studies for the Quarterly. She spoke on “The Road Ahead” and the somewhere path where we don’t stop to look for the path to follow because we are always rushing and hurrying from one activity to another or the nowhere path where we take time to do some things.
On our journey we take a suitcase which carries our gifts as well as our flaws. It is an inventory of our life including the good, the bad, and the ugly.
On the journey we also take a map which is God’s Word. It isn’t always easy to see what road to take as events go fast and there are potholes along the way that slow us down.
But, we know God is always there with us, guiding us.
Following Beth Foreman’s inspirational talk, Pastor Schamber installed the two newly elected officers.
The Fall Rally will be held at Zion Lutheran in Palmyra.
Those attending from the Vandalia area were Regina Vogt, Margarethe Price, Dorothy Cahill, Elsie Hand, Brenda Elliot, and Carol Fishel.
