Bounce houses, several new events, and the live band “Robot Coffee Break” are among the new attractions at this year’s Farber Summer Fun Fest scheduled for August 2-3 at Sportsman Park.
Known for their “unconventional jam” the band “Robot Coffee Break” is scheduled to play live music from 8 p.m.-midnight.
Their sound features electric violin, tribal percussion, along with electric and acoustic guitars. They feature tracks on everyone from Johnny Cash to Sublime and original blues and folk tunes.
The group is based out of Columbia, Mo.
This year’s event also includes the Catapulting of Maters contest. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative launcher and best launch of tomatoes, which will be used for projectiles. Teams will get seven minutes to complete three launches.
Launching machines can be made of safe materials not costing more than $50.
The rules are the same as those from the Vandalia Area Fair’s contest in late June.
