LEPC Quarterly Meeting

The quarterly meeting of the Audrain County Local Emergency Planning Committee was held on Thursday, July 18 at noon in  the Community Room of the Audrain County Courthouse.
President Steve Shaw welcomed all members and introduced Mimi Diaz and Kerry Schnieders from the Missouri Emergency Response Commission.
Twenty seven members introduced themselves and their agencies to the MERC representatives. Minutes from the April 18 meeting were approved as was the Treasurer’s report.
Quarterly Hazard Incident Report by Steve Shaw referred the reported incident to Brice Mesko from MPSD. The reported spill was cleaned by using materials from the LEPC trailer. The LEPC did order and replace those items.
Old Business: Tallgrass Pipeline will hose the October Quarterly meeting.
Any LEPC member wishing to attend will need to send the response to the EMD before the October meeting.
LEPC T-shirts were distributed.
On the CEPF grant the LEPC members voted to send the request to the MERC which has approved the grant.
Annex H (stand-alone hazmat plan) has been updated and sent to MERC, which has been approved, with mapping to be done.
New Business: Special election of vice president-two members were nominated; Jerry Johnson and Sgt. Russell Sing. Members voted to elect Sgt. Sing as the new vice-president. Mimi Diaz from MERC let the members know what is required of the group to be in compliance. The MERC presenter also went to a DNR web site to show the group a chart of all hazard incident reports over the past 15 years for Audrain County. Then there was a question and answer session. Steve Shaw resumed the meeting under new business. Steve Shaw will be ordering a multi-gas indicator. Vandalia Prison would like to plan a full scale chemical exercise with the LEPC group. A planning committee will be formed.
MERC will be giving an award to our LEPC for its growth and improvements as a medium size committee in Missouri. Steve Shaw will travel to Overland Park, Kansas on July 26 to accept the award on behalf of the LEPC. The next regular meeting will be October 17 at Tallgrass Pipeline Substation.
