LaTamara Shonique Hammers, age 22, of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly at 10:53 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Vandalia.
A service was held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.
Officiating was the Rev. Garland Williams.
There was a special music selection.
Interment of her cremains will take place at a later date.
Pallbearers were Shane Custard, Justin Lopez, Matthew Warren, Samuel Lee, Jr., Jason Herd, and Danny Robinson. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Connor, Arthaniel Hammers, James Luper Jr., Troy Cockrell, and Dustin Holt.
LaTamara Shonique Hammers was born on May 31, 1992 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Tony B. Luper and LaDawn T. Hammers.
She was a 2010 graduate of Hickman High School. After high school, Latamara worked for about three years as a cook supervisor at Lenoir Retirement Center.
Most recently, she worked as a patient representative at the BJC Internal Medicine Clinic. In her free time, she enjoyed hanging out with friends, doing nails, going to concerts and singing.
Survivors include her parents Tony Luper and LaDawn Hammers, of Columbia; step-father Terry Jo Holt, Jr., of Columbia; three sisters, LaTara Hammers, LaTonia Hammers, and Asha Davis, all of Columbia; grandparents Harold Ferguson and Geneva Ferguson, both of Vandalia; Gracie Luper and James Luper, Sr., both of Dallas; also survived by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Joshua Overton. Memorials are encouraged to the donor’s choice.
