Last week to file in election races

election-buttonCandidates have just one more week to officially declare their candidacy for several area election races in the area.
The deadline to file for the upcoming April 4 election is next Tuesday, January 17.
City of Vandalia
In the City of Vandalia, there are aldermen seats up for election in all three Wards.
Incumbents for the three sets currently are Gabe Jennings, Dempsey Dixon, and Bob Dunn.
Those who have filed as of press time are Teresa Wenzel in Ward I, Dixon in Ward II, and Debbie Hopke in Ward III.
City of Farber
The City of Farber has three seats up for election in April.
Those races will be for mayor and two aldermen seats.
Incumbents are Mayor John Hodde along with aldermen Ronald Greenplate and Gary Stubblefield.
No filings have been confirmed as of press time.
City of Martinsburg
There are three positions up for election in the City of Martinsburg.
Those positions are currently being held by Mayor Pat Arens, Ed Lewallen (Ward I), and Bill Dubbert (Ward II).
There were no filings as of press time.
City of Laddonia
There are three offices open for election in the City of Laddonia.
The two-year terms are for mayor and two races are for the alderman position.
Currently, those positions are held by Mayor Josh Deimeke and incumbents Monte Hanson and Eric Craft.
As of press time, both Hanson and Craft have filed for the mayoral position but no one has filed in the aldermen races.
City of Middletown
In Middletown, there are two, two-year terms up for election for seats held by aldermen Roy Butts and Chrissy Maycock. Both candidates are the only residents who have filed as of press time.
Those wishing to declare their candidacy are encouraged to call City Hall at 573-549-2220 to make an appointment.
City of Curryville
There are three two-year terms up for election in the City of Curryville.
Only incumbent Ashley Wilburn has declared her candidacy.
Van-Far R-I School District
There are three board member positions up for election for the Van-Far R-I School District.
The seats are currently being filled by Jim Hopke, Larry Wheeler, and Kimber Nation.
Both Hopke and Wheeler have filed as of press time.
Community R-VI School District
There are three school board positions up for election with the Community R-VI School District. The positions are currently being held by Greg Fort, Linda Gastler, and Andrew Fairchild.
The two lone candidates who have filed as of press time are Bonnie Wilson and Fort.
Van-Far Ambulance District
No candidacies have been declared in the Van-Far Ambulance District as two, three-year positions are up for election.
Incumbents are Joyce Holt and Jimmy Williams, who represent District Two and District Five.
District Two features a portion of the City of  Vandalia, south of State Street, and west of Jefferson Street.
District Five features a portion of the City of Vandalia, north of State Street to the City Limits and east of Jefferson Street.

Tri-County Care Center
There are two seats up for election at the Tri-County Care Center.
Both incumbents Carolyn McBride and Charles Hayden have filed for re-election as the election features races for District Number Two and District Number Three.
