Larry L. Kelch, age 76, of Silex, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Louisville Christian Church in Louisville, with Rev. Bob Hoehn officiating. Burial was in the Louisville Cemetery, with military rites being conducted by VFW Post 5553 and Missouri Military Honors. Visitation was Saturday, March 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Louisville Christian Church.
Larry was born Nov. 17, 1937, in Louisville, the son of Lloyd L. and Edna Mae Grote Kelch. On Feb. 27, 1961 he married Joanna Thorpe. She preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1994.
Survivors include mother Edna Kent, of Bowling Green; daughter Lawanna Mudd, of Silex; four grandchildren, Garrett Luebrecht and friend Scott Brewster, Geordan Luebrecht and wife Brenda, Gerrod (Jake) Mudd, and Audrey Mudd; one great-grandchild, Logan Larry Luebrecht; two brothers, Wayne Kelch and wife Barb, of Bowling Green and Leslie Kelch and wife Pam, of Bowling Green; two sisters, Linda Willenbrink and husband Larry, of Bowling Green and Melba Benn, of Frankford; and a special friend Rosemary Boland. He was preceded in death by his father, and a son, Lance Larry Kelch.
Larry lived and raised livestock in the Louisville area all of his life. He attended the Louisville Christian Church and was a 1955 Silex High School Graduate. He was in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Bermuda. He was a member of the Olney Masonic Lodge #473, Elks Lodge in Louisiana, VFW Post 5553, and the American Legion Post #370. Larry loved to play cards and watch his grandkids play sports. His grandkids and new great-grandson were his pride and joy.
Serving as pallbearers were Mike Stanek, Gary Oberman, J.B. Grothaus, Patrick Higgins, Tim Shoemake, and Darren Grote.
