The Community R-VI Lady Trojans are entering this week’s Class 1, District 7 softball tournament with a three-game winning streak after picking up wins over EMO Conference foes.
On Wednesday, the Lady Trojans scored five runs in the second inning and held on late to a 7-2 win over Mark Twain.
Dalaney Bowers had two hits, one RBI, and one run scored while both Sirrina Dunn and Deann Brooks had two RBIs.
Emmi Johnson had two runs scored while one run was scored by Taren Clark, Katie Bertels, Maddee Gastler, and Emma Angel.
Dunn picked up the win after tossing seven innings and allowing no earned runs on two hits with four strikeouts.
In the EMO Conference tournament of the bottom seeds, the Lady Trojans first crushed rival Wellsville-Middletown, 16-1 behind a 16-hit attack.
Gastler was 4-for-4 with one run scored while Bowers had two hits, three runs scored, one RBI.
Angel added three RBIs and one run scored; Dunn had two RBIs; Brooks had two runs scored and one RBI; Emma Hombs had one run scored and one RBI; Clark had two runs scored and one RBI; Bertels had three RBIs; Natalie Thomas added two runs scored; Tayler Cope had one RBI and one run scored; while Breanna Beamer, Emmi Johnson, and Emily Hoyt each scored one run.
Dunn earned the win after tossing five innings and allowing one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts.
For the second time in a week, the Lady Trojans beat Mark Twain again, this time 8-1.
Clark and Hoyt each scored two runs; Gastler had one RBI and scored one run; Thomas had three RBIs and one run scored; while McCailyn Drainer and Bertels scored one run.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Trojans fell 11-1 to Northeast (Cairo).
Thomas scored the Lady Trojans’ lone run in the loss where she and Bowers each had the team’s lone base hits.
Dunn allowed five earned runs in four innings on nine hits.
The Lady Trojans will take on the host New Haven squad on Wednesday, October 4 at 6 p.m. in the first round of districts.
With a win, the Lady Trojans will play Clopton one day later at 4 p.m.
With a semifinals victory over No. 1 seed Clopton, the Lady Trojans will play on Friday for a district title at 5 p.m against either Silex, Wellsville, or Van-Far.
