Lady Trojans win softball opener

The Community R-VI Lady Trojans softball team took their first opponent with a narrow win Friday, August 24.
The Lady Trojans rallied during the last inning of the game with five runs to knock off Marion County for a one-run victory.
“The girls played hard and persevered through a few early mistakes to stay in the game,” Head Coach Stacie Carroz said.
Pitcher Paige Curtis then shut  out Marion County in their last at-bat in the final inning of the game to secure a Lady Trojans’ victory.
Community R-VI had 13 hits and scored nine runs Marion County made seven hits, eight runs, and two errors. The Lady Trojans struggled with nine errors for the game.
Paige Curtis pitched all seven innings delivering 11 strike outs and one walk in the victory.
Paige Harris went 3-for-4 with three hits, three RBI’s, and one home run.
Katie Carline also went 3-for-4 delivering three hits, and two RBIs.
