The Community R-VI Lady Trojans softball team won its home opener last week when they knocked off Silex 13-3 after scoring at least two runs in each of the first three innings.
Community R-VI scored four runs in the first inning, two in both the second and third innings, one in the fourth, and four in the sixth.
Though the Lady Trojans’ defense committed four errors, the Lady Owls had seven errors in their loss.
Natalie Thomas led Community R-VI with two hits, four RBIs, and two runs scored while Deann Brooks added two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI.
Chelsea Hoyt scored two runs; Sirrina Dunn had two RBIs and one run scored; Alissa Curtis had one RBI and one run scored; while Dalaney Bowers, Katie Bertels, Taren Clark, Delanie Windmann, and Sadie Hoyt each scored one run.
Chelsea Hoyt, Bowers, and Thomas each added two stolen bases a piece.
Danie Jackson picked up the victory on the mound after tossing five innings and allowing just three earned runs with four strikeouts. She did walk nine batters.
Alissa Curtis struck out three in her lone inning of relief with one walk.
