The Community R-VI Lady Trojans softball team was plagued with errors after a handful of losses last week.
They began the busy week with a 19-2 loss to Monroe City after making five errors.
Mikyla Wagner had a singled and scored one run; Samm Jett reached base on an error; Amber Harrison had a single and an RBI, Danie Jackson had a single; and Chelsea Hoyt reached base on an error and scored one run.
The Lady Trojans lost to North Callaway 15-0 after making seven errors.
Jett and Jackson each had a single while Danielle Brooks and Alissa Curtis each drew walks.
Community R-VI lost 20-0 to Silex in spite of trailing by just one run in the third inning.
“We only had four strikeouts as a team, which shows we are improving hitting wise,” said Community R-VI head coach Sarah Simmons.
“We just had a hard time putting the ball into the gaps to allow us to score.”
Tayler Cope, Sirrina Dunn, and Wagner each had singles while both Jett and Harrison reached base on a single and an error.
The Lady Trojans finished the week with a tough 16-0 loss to Montgomery City. Only Samantha Jackson reached base with a hit by pitch.
“Minus the game against Montgomery City, I have seen improvements in our hitting,” Simmons said. “We are hitting the ball much better than last year. We just are having a hard time getting it through the defense. Defensively, we are still making errors but each game I’ve seen improvements in some form.”
