The Community R-VI Lady Trojans split a pair of EMO Conference games last week after traveling to both Wellsville and Elsberry.
The Lady Trojans had their best offensive output all year in Wellsville after beating their rivals, 65-40.
Both teams were tied at 17 at the end of the first quarter as Wellsville scored on its first six possessions.
The Lady Trojans responded by putting together a 21-0 run over the next six minutes to take a 40-21 lead at halftime.
“I was glad we responded with this performance after a terrible shooting night at Elsberry,” said Community R-VI head coach Bob Curtis.
The Lady Trojans outscored Wellsville 25-19 in the second half to hold on for the 25-point victory.
They were led by Samm Jett and Emmalee McCoskey, who combined for 39 points.
Jett made four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 26 points.
McCoskey compiled a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
“We had eight people score and really got in a flow offensively,” Curtis said.
Earlier in the week the Lady Trojans lost to Elsberry 55-28.
“It was our worst loss of the season and we just did not play well,” Curtis said. “We struggled to make anything and got outhustled.”
Jett led the Lady Trojans with 16 points.
