Lady Trojans knock off Wright City

The Community R-VI varsity softball program thumped Wright City for a 13-3 victory on Tuesday, September 25.
Scoreless in the first, the Lady Trojans had two runs in the second and held a 8-1 lead over the Lady Wildcats by the end of the third. Community R-VI added one run in the fourth and finished their last at-bat with four more runs.
“This was a great conference win for us,” Lady Trojans’ head coach Stacie Carroz said. “We played very well offensively, and we were able to preserve through a few errors to keep (Wright City) from scoring. This was one of the best games we have played.”
Community R-VI had 14 hits and committed five errors.
Paige Curtis tossed the five-inning game allowing three hits, three runs with one walk and five strikeouts.
Lead hitters for the Lady Trojans included Lindsey Gastler, who had two hits, two RBIs, and three runs scored. Samantha Jackson had three hits and two runs scored. Paige Harris, Curtis, and Bianca Stafford had two hits.
Harris and Stafford had two runs scored and Curtis had one run scored.
Shutdown by Silex
Silex’s Lady Owls held Community R-VI scoreless through five innings to beat the Lady Trojans 10-0 on Wednesday, September 26.
Silex scored two runs in the second, one run in the third and fourth, before adding six runs in their final at-bat.
Curtis had the lone hit while the defense made three errors.
Curtis allowed 11 hits, 10 runs, and three walks on the mound. She had three strikeouts.
EMO Tournament
Community R-VI was shutout 9-0 by North Callaway on Monday, September 29 at the EMO Conference Tournament hosted by Montgomery.
North Callaway allowed the Lady Trojans’ two hits.
On the mound, Curtis  allowed 14 hits and three walks. She had five strikeouts and seven earned runs.
Leading hitter for the game was Harris at 2-for-3.
The Lady Trojans fell to Van-Far’s Lady Indians in consolations by a final score of 8-2.
Curtis was on the mound with nine hits, five earned runs, three walks, and four strikeouts.
Curtis was 1-for-3 hitting and Katie Carline was 1-for-2.
