“The girls played a good game,” Community R-VI head coach Holly Gemes said. “They worked hard for the first half and were up by three at half time.”
Gemes said coming into the third quarter, Van-Far gained the lead but the Lady Trojans prevailed late in the game dominating the fourth quarter.
“Every coach pounds it into their players that free throws win games and that was definitely the case with this game,” Gemes said. “Danie Jackson was at the line six different times and made seven of her 13 and we won by six.”

“The girls had a tough time playing on Wellsville’s home court because they wanted to win as badly as we did,” Gemes said. “Being our third game of the week, they were tired, but the girls dug deep and put everything they had on the floor and pulled out a wins.”
Sweeps Sturgeon
Community R-VI hosted Sturgeon for a 33-17 victory on November 6.
Notables for the game were Curtis with 13 points and LaGesse with 8 points.

Falls to Madison
The Lady Trojans fell to Madison 22-18 on Monday, November 5.
Leading scorers were Curtis with nine points and LaGesse with six points.
“The girls had a rough first quarter,” Gemes said. “We had been off for a week and some of the girls were under the weather. However, they pushed through and closed the gap on Madison. We just couldn’t break their man-to-man defense and we haven’t faced it much this year.”
