The Community R-VI Lady Trojans continued their dominance in recent match-ups with Marion County last week after leaving Philadelphia, Mo. with a 63-36 victory.
Though they won by 27 points, the Lady Trojans struggled with their shooting making just 25-of-82 shots from the field.
“We did not play great but grinded it out with a lot of second and third opportunities on a poor shooting night,” said Community R-VI head coach Bob Curtis.
Community R-VI was cruising early with a 15-2 first quarter edge before Marion County rallied in the second quarter to close the gap to seven at halftime.
In fact, the Lady Trojans scored just eight points in the second quarter.
The Lady Trojans charged out of halftime by scoring 23 of the next 33 points and outscored Marion County 40-20 in the final two quarters.
Taren Clark was solid for Community R-VI in the win finishing with eight points, four assists, three rebounds, and one steal.
“Taren Clark has been very efficient offensively all year and hit two big 3’s in this contest,” Bob Curtis said.
“She does not force things on offense and is shooting a little better than 50% from the field this season.”
Alissa Curtis, in spite of playing through an injury, scored a team-high 16 points, eight steals, four rebounds, three assists, and one block.
“Also, could not be prouder of the toughness Alissa Curtis has shown as she has played through an ankle injury that has challenged her mobility the last couple of weeks as she led us in scoring with 16 points Tuesday night and will get a chance to get back to 100% with some rest over the Christmas Break.”
Natalie Thomas had eight points, nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals; Sadie Hoyt added eight points, three rebounds, and one steal; Deann Brooks tallied seven points, five rebounds, four steals, and one assist; Chelsea Hoyt scored five points, six rebounds, one steal, and one assist; Delanie Windmann had four points, two rebounds, and one steal; Danie Jackson scored three points and two rebounds; Morgan Bryant added two points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal; Bethany Schmidt had two points, two rebounds, two steals, and one assist; and Tayler Cope added three steals, one rebound, and one assist.
