The Community R-VI Lady Trojans softball team lost a tough game at home last Tuesday as the defense committed seven errors in a 20-9 loss to Wright City.
This in spite of Wright City’s defense committing 11 errors, which is a high total for a Top-10 spots in the MSHSAA record books for errors by a team in a game.
The Lady Trojans led 3-1 at the end of the first inning before the Lady Wildcats responded with six in the second.
Wright City scored at least two runs in the final five innings, including a five-run fifth to seal the win.
The Lady Trojans scored one in the third, two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, and one in the sixth.
Community R-VI’s offense was led by Amber Harrison’s two RBIs. Deann Brooks and Danie Jackson each had one RBI and one run scored.
Katie Bertels scored two runs while Taren Clark, Delanie Windmann, Sadie Hoyt, and Dalaney Bowers each scored one run.
On the mound, Jackson was charged with six earned runs and one strikeout in two innings of work.
Alissa Curtis tossed 3 1/3 innings and allowed five earned runs with two strikeouts and seven walks.
Bowers had 1 2/3 innings with no earned runs, two walks, and one strikeout.
Wright City’s hitters drew 13 walks in the win and also had 13 hits.
