A Lady Trojan slide back into third base in the Community R-VI home finale last week against Mark Twain.

The Community R-VI Lady Trojans softball team picked up an encouraging 6-5 victory last week over Mark Twain before failing to place in the EMO Conference Tournament.
Against the Lady Tigers, Community R-VI led 4-2 through five innings before adding two important runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Senior Night.
Mark Twain rallied to score three times in their final at-bat but their comeback bid fell one run short.
“Great Senior Night win for our girls,” said Community R-VI head coach Nathan Carroz.
The game meant it was the final home game for seniors Mikyla Wagner, Kate Smith, Courtney Bertels, Samm Jett, and Danielle Brooks.
“Kate Smith had a very solid night at the plate,” Carroz added.  “Courtney Bertels made a great play in right field to prevent runs. Samm Jett and Danielle Brooks had great nights on the bases with two runs scored on one stolen base each. All of these young ladies will be dearly missed by the program.”
Smith went 3-for-4  with three doubles, five RBIs and one run scored.
Amber Harrison had two hits while both Brooks and Jett had two runs scored, one hit, and one stolen base.
Jett earned the win after tossing seven innings and striking out one.
In the EMO Conference tournament played at Montgomery County, the Lady Trojans opened with a 16-1 loss to Bowling Green.
Smith had two doubles and one RBI in the loss.
Harrison picked up the loss after allowing 16 earned runs and 14 walks with one strikeout.
“We allowed too many baserunners against a good team,” Carroz added.
In the Consolation semifinals, the Lady Trojans scored their lone run in the top of the third inning during a 5-1 loss to Wright City.
“The game boiled down to the fact that they had timely hitting and we did not,” Carroz said. “We had four runners in scoring position but were unable to score. There were a couple balls we struck well but they just went right to the defense.”
Danie Jackson had two hits and Jett added one triple and a run scored in the loss.
Jett also picked up the loss to move her record to 7-9 after allowing five earned runs with two strikeouts.
