Community R-VI girls basketball players Samm Jett and Alissa Curtis combined to score 54 points in the Lady Trojans’ 75-46 home victory last week over Louisiana.
“We knew coming into the contest, it was going to be a fast paced game as Louisiana is athletic and does not take much time off the clock on each possession,” said Community R-VI head coach Bob Curtis. “…We pressed them and they pressed us early, which led to a lot of transition buckets for both teams. I have been really pleased with our shot selection lately and effort early in games.”
The Lady Trojans scored 42 points in the first 16 minutes (first half) for the third time this season.
They had an 10-0 run in the first quarter and a 17-0 run in the second quarter.
Community R-VI led 42-24 at halftime before holding on in the second half for the 30-point win.
The Lady Trojans made 7-of-14 3-point attempts with Jett hitting four of them. The team also shot 54% from the field, making 28-of-51 shots.
Louisiana turned the ball over 20 times in the loss.
Jett scored 17 of her game-high 30 points in the second half. She finished with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals while Alissa Curtis tallied 24 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.
Danielle Brooks had eight points, eight assists, four rebounds, two steals, and two blocks; Rebecca Hagan added five points, four rebounds, one steal, and one block; Danie Jackson added four points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal; Chelsea Hoyt had two points, three steals, one rebound, and one assist; Taren Clark had two points and one steal; Tayler Cope added one rebound and one steal; Lexus LaGesse and Ivy Stathem had one rebound; Mikyla Wagner had one rebound and one steal; and Bethany Schmidt had one block.
The Lady Trojans now have a 12-3 overall record.
