The Community R-VI girls basketball team used their solid defensive play to help them to a dominating 65-39 road victory last week in Louisiana.
The Lady Trojans held Louisiana to just six points in the first eight minutes of play.
Community R-VI increased their lead to 37-18 at halftime before cruising in the second half for the 26-point victory.
The Lady Trojans made 13-of-20 free throws and 19-of-46 shots from the field.
“I felt like we made a great effort to make them a half court team,” said Community R-VI head coach Bob Curtis. “…Sam Jackson did a nice job in our man-to-man defense guarding their best player and holding her under her season average.”
Samm Jett made six 3-pointers for 30 points. She also had four rebounds and two steals.
Danielle Brooks had a near triple-double of 10 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and two steals.
Alissa Curtis scored eight points, four rebounds, and two steals; Rebecca Hagan scored six points and two rebounds; Samantha Jackson tallied four points and four rebounds; Lexus LaGesse scored three points; and both Danie Jackson and Chelsea Hoyt scored two points.
