The Van-Far Lady Indians basketball team will be looking for its speedy lineup to help the program be successful during the 2018-19 season.
Their lone returning starters include seniors Jayle Jennings and Jordan Garner.
Other key players include Panna Connaway, Annalynn Culwell, and Alyse Jensen. Aubrey Bunge is returning to the program as a junior who will provide a post presence as she is nearly 6’ tall. Freshmen Devyn Keller, Haley Baskett, and Abigail Hunn will also be key to the Lady Indians’ success this season.
“We will try to use our speed,” said Van-Far head coach Kelly Borchert in looking at her team this season. “We’re not very big but we are very fast. I’d like to see us go over .500 this year.”
Borchert said her squad features a “great group of ball handlers.”
She noted that it will help her team get up the floor a little quicker.
Another key to their success is that a lot of the players also competed on the softball team together and have played together for years. Defensively, the Lady Indians are not a big lineup.
Borchert said they will need to “work tougher” and “get out front of girls that are bigger than us.”
“We’re also trying to try and press a little, to force turnovers and slow the game down a bit in our favor,” Borchert added.
The Lady Indians will play their next home game on Thursday, Nov. 29 against Louisiana.
