The Van-Far Lady Indians’ defense dominated Wellsville last week, holding them to just six points in the first half of a 47-26 victory.
Van-Far led 16-5 at the end of the first quarter before the defense allowed just one more point before halftime.
Up 29-6, the offense struggled in the third quarter as foul trouble plagued Van-Far.
Wellsville actually outscored the Lady Indians 7-2 in the third before Van-Far pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 21-point victory.
“We had a good team win against Wellsville,” said head coach Kelly Borchert.
“We all played aggressive team basketball. We pushed the ball up the floor and got it inside, which is something we have struggles with this season. (In the) third quarter, we got into a little foul trouble but managed to finish the game playing smart and keeping our composure.”
Jayle Jennings led the Lady Indians with 13 points, six rebounds, two steals, and two assists.
Jordan Garner had a double-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, and one assist; Reaghan Case scored 10 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and one assist; Alex Connaway chipped in six points, three rebounds, and one assist; Katie Elzea had four points, six rebounds, two steals, and two assists; Alivia Graddy scored two points, two rebounds, and one steal; Gina Clausen had two points and one rebound; Alyse Jensen pulled down two rebounds; Mackenzie Kurz had one rebound and one assist; and Morgan McDowell added one rebound and one steal.
