The Van-Far varsity girls basketball team pulled out its second win of the season with a 42-39 Senior Night victory over Wellsville on Tuesday, February 12.
The teams tied at 11 in the first quarter with the Lady Indians winning the second 9-6. Wellsville came back to win the third quarter 13-9 but fell in the fourth 13-9.
Ciara Craven led Van-Far with 17 points and five rebounds; followed by Breanna Strange with eight points and 14 rebounds; Brooke Johnson had five points and four rebounds; Annaliese Hubert, Renee Nelson, and Kambrie Harstell each had three points; and Sarah Sutton added two points.
Falls to North Callaway
The Lady Indians took a hard 59-22 loss to North Callaway on Friday, February 15.
North Callaway took an early 19-3 lead in the first quarter, adding 13 points in the second for a 32-10 edge at the half.
Van-Far lost the third quarter 20-12 before being held scoreless in the fourth quarter in the 37-point loss.
Johnson led with 11 points and five rebounds; Craven had five points with two rebounds; Strange had four points with five rebounds; and Katelyn Allen had two points with one rebound.
