The Van-Far Lady Indians softball team won a pair of games last week.
Their big win came on Tuesday when they held off a late Silex charge to beat the Lady Owls, 3-2.
“Our defense was looking pretty good Tuesday night, and with a few good heads up plays, we were able to come out on top,” said Van-Far head coach Kelly Borchert. “We didn’t hit the greatest, but were able to capitalize and the hits we did have.”
Mallory Williams had two of her team’s 10 hits and added two RBIs. Devyn Keller, Jayle Jennings, and Jordan Garner each scored one run.
Jennings picked up the win on the mound after allowing just two runs in seven innings with nine strikeouts.
Van-Far opened the week with a 14-2 win over Hermann behind a 10-hit attack. Garner had a big game as she had two triples and a home run for five RBIs and two runs scored. She finished with three hits. Alyse Jensen added one RBI and two runs scored; Makayla McAfee and Keller each had one RBI and one run scored; and Haley Baskett scored three runs. Williams added one RBI; Jennings scored two runs; while Colby Walton, Alivia Graddy, and Kaylen Culwell each scored one run. Keller and Walton each pitched and both gave up just one run.
“The Hermann game we started off a little slow but once we adjusted to the pitcher we were able to get our offense going,” Borchert said.
