Ladies Auxiliary meets, POW/MIA display at library

DSC_0166The Ladies’ Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 2173 met on Thursday, September 11, at the post home in Vandalia. President Victoria Shaw called the 7 p.m. meeting to order. Opening ceremonies were observed.
The minutes were approved as read for the August meeting.  The treasurer reported the current balance with her report being filed for audit.
The POW-MIA Remembrance was held on September 19.
Correspondence read included General Orders No. 2 and several letters from the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Mexico. One letter included an award for Monetary Contributions to the Missouri Veterans’ Home during the fiscal year with an invitation to a luncheon on October 15.
A memorial donation for deceased member Claudine Stewart was made to the Missouri Veterans’ Home. Plans for participation in the All-Town Garage Sale on October 4 were made.
District 17 Auxiliary President JoAnn Diffenderfer made her official visit with some shared thoughts and ideas.            Closing ceremonies were observed followed by refreshments in honor of official visitor.
Members in attendance were Vivian Davis, Val Galloway, Mary Gramley, Judy Hull, Beverly Largent, Norma Shaw, Victoria, Shaw, Ann Wasson, and Wanda Winders. The next auxiliary meeting is Thursday, October 9 at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend.
