Laddonia set for 4th of July annual event

The Laddonia Athletic Association is inviting the area to its 63rd Annual Laddonia 4th of July Celebration to be held this Saturday in Laddonia.
A large fireworks display around 9 p.m. highlights an action-packed schedule of events.
At 8:30 a.m., Hall of Fame Awards will be given to recipients Alice Isgrig and Jack Folta.
The 20th reunion of the Community R-VI Lady Trojans state championship softball team will be held at 8:40 p.m.
The schedule begins with a Coed Softball Tournament starting at 8 a.m.
The Baby Contest and Little Mr. and Ms. Contest will start at 9 a.m. at the ball park. In case of rain, it will be moved to the Baptist Church Community Building. Entry cost is $2.
The Little Mr. and Ms. participants are to wear 4th of July attire. There are no dress requirements for the Baby Show.
The Hard Ride Cafe, Bakery, and Saloon will make available funnel cakes, fried twinkies, and snow cones starting at 11 a.m.
Lineup for the 11 a.m. parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and is hosted by the Laddonia Ladybugs.
The bounce houses open at noon and will last until 7 p.m. as hosted by the Community R-VI Elementary staff.
The Yee Haw Line Dancers perform at noon.
Free kids games, sponsored by Josh Deimeke, begin at 1 p.m.
Games include the frog jump, turtle race, sack race, water balloon toss, hula hoop contest, bicycle race, baseball throw, three legged race, and bubble gum blowing contest.
A Horseshoe Tournament starts at 1 p.m. at the Wayne McGrew Horseshoe Pits.
The Kids Mud Volleyball event starts at 2 p.m. with a 1:30 sign-up.
The Adult Mud Volleyball event starts at 3 p.m. with a 2:30 p.m. sign-up.
Starting at 5 p.m., the “New Oakland Singers” will perform a selection of country and country gospel music.
A free kids book walk, hosted by the Van-Far School Staff and Scholastic Books, Inc., starts at 6 p.m.
Laddonia’s Chief of Police Shawn Puls will be testing the radar speed of fastballs at 6 p.m.
A Coed Old Timers Game for those over 50 starts at 7:30 p.m. Extra gloves will be available if needed.
A candy toss will proceed the fireworks display.
A Silent Auction ends at 7 p.m. The raffle ends with a 6:30 p.m. drawing. Winners don’t need to be present to win the drawing.
A Food Stand will be open all day and closed during the Fireworks.
The Food Stand will reopen until the 5th inning of the championship game.
