scanThe Laddonia Library Summer Reading Program tour was held at the Vandalia Water Works on July 19.
Darren Berry conducted the tour of the Water Works facility. He explained that the water can flow to their system at up to 500 gallons per minute. Chemicals are added to the water which slowly moves into a settling basin, through a filtration system, and into the recently refurbished holding tank. The holding tank usually holds up to one million gallons of water.
“The City of Vandalia uses approximately 200,000 gallons of water per day,” Berry said. The Water Works Department tests the water every two hours to make sure it meets regulations.
The next Summer Reading Program will be at the Laddonia Library on July 27 at 6 p.m., with a magic show by Rick Eugene. On July 28 at 1 p.m., the Reading program will meet at the Mexico Memorial Airport for another tour. Pam Mozee, Laddonia Librarian, will have books available to check out at the airport.  “Be sure to bring your library card,” Mozee said.
