Congratulations goes to Van-Far head coach Blake Logan and the boys track and field program for winning back-to-back district titles after several stand-out performances in their meet held last Saturday in Hillsboro.
It’s amazing to see how far this program has come in just a little bit of time. All of the athletes and coaches deserve to be commended for their efforts in making the Indians one of the best programs in the state.
This squad will likely compete for a Sectional and even a State title this year.
Meanwhile, the girls program flexed its muscle in representing Van-Far and finished third in districts.
Please be sure to wish the athletes the best of luck as they continue their pursuit for even more postseason success.
Thanking the Pirch’s
It’s hard to believe that commencement ceremonies at both Van-Far and Community R-VI will be held this Sunday for the Class of 2016.
A majority of these students were in elementary school when I took this position in the Fall of 2007.  It’s been a privilege covering them through the years through a variety of activities only to see them get ready to cross the stage on Sunday.
The VFTA also held a Retirement Tea on Monday to honor Lisa Lovell, Mindy Nasir, Cindy Pirch, and Donna Woodrow.
It was a special celebration for each of the retirees.
I publicly want to say congratulations to every one recognized, especially Van-Far Jr./Sr. Principal Cindy Pirch.
In all of my years working with administrators from school districts, no administrator has shown me the amount of dedication to their students than Principal Pirch has shown while serving Van-Far.
Though I have a photographer to help me cover the many school events these days, for several years I covered countless of activities and sporting events for “The Vandalia Leader.”
While teachers, players and coaches may have changed, one thing never did and that was the dedication of Principal Pirch and her husband Garry attempting to be at nearly every event.
Their type of dedication is rare and the Pirch’s should be commended for all they have done for the district during their time at Van-Far.
