In 2013, the then Audrain City-County Health Unit (ACCHU) started a new era as the Audrain County Health Department. Later in the same year, the ACHD moved to its new location on S. Elmwood in Mexico.
Two years later, the administrator that helped usher in the big changes has resigned.
Faye Fairchild, Chairperson for the Audrain County Board of Health, has confirmed that longtime ACHD administrator Kevin Lowrance submitted his resignation on January 21.
The Board of Health held a special meeting one day later to officially accept his resignation. No reason for Lowrance’s resignation was disclosed by the board.
The administrator position is the only one of the more than 20 positions in the department that reports directly to the Board of Health.
Linda Spurling, the ACHD’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who is in charge of human resources, has been chosen by the board to serve as interim administrator.
“We’ve begun our search,” Fairchild said.
Lowrance had been with the Audrain County Health Department since 2001.
Fairchild said those interested in applying for the administrator position should send their resume to the ACHD, in care of human resources.
She said the board will officially start advertising to fill the position next week.
The ACHD holds a public meeting every second Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. at the department, located in Mexico at 1130 S. Elmwood.
