The Van-Far Lady Indians kicked off their softball season Thursday night, Sept. 10, defeating Louisiana by a final score 12-0.
Devyn Keller, a junior, looked really good on the mound, pitching a no hitter and giving up only one walk.
The Lady Indians were also aggressive at the plate and running the bases, said Coach Kelly Borchert. They pounded out 14 hits with 9 RBIs and a handful of stolen bases.
“I am so proud of how the girls played,” Borchert said. “This year has already been a crazy one, and we were just thankful to be out on the field again. We came out hot the first inning and never let up.”
This week, the team has multiple games scheduled in a short period of time as well as a tournament.
“It will be a nice test for us to see how much endurance we have as a team,” Borchert said. “We are hoping to keep our same momentum throughout the week.”
