Mia Jerman, formally of Vandalia, finished up a very successful track season. Competing at the state track meet in Jefferson City held on May 29-30, she placed second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:02, and placed second in the Class 4 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:42.
Mia also led her team in the class 4X800- meter relay to a first place finish with a time of 9:31. As a team, Ste. Genevieve took home a second place finish with 54 points.
Mia’s performance has earned her a spot in the upcoming “Festival of Miles” Elite Division to be held in St. Louis. She was also selected for the prestigious KTJJ Dream Team. Only five female track athletes in the 150 mile area radius of Farmington, Missouri are selected to be a part of the KTJJ Dream Team. Mia just received the honor of Dream Team Athlete of the Year at the May 31 ceremony held at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri.
Jerman’s personal record in the 1,600-meter run is 4:58 and her personal record in the 3,200- meter run is 10:42.
Mia also participates in cross county where she is very successful as well. This past cross country season, she finished second out of 171 participants in the state cross country meet with a time of 19:03 for the 5,000-meter (3.12 miles) run. As a team, they took home a second place win with 72 points. Her quickest time, however, was at Forest Park in September, 2014 (18:07) earning a third place finish out of 260 participants.
Jerman will be a senior at Ste. Geneieve High School in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, where she is active, belonging to the National Honor Society and the Student Council besides her dedication to running.
Mia is the daughter of Tony and Penny Jerman, Bloomsdale, Mo., and the granddaughter of Delmar and Darlene Jennings, of Curryville, and Gary Jerman and Fran Jerman, of Vandalia.
