JANET LEE ZUMWALT

Janet Lee Zumwalt, 82, of Montgomery City, Missouri, died on Friday, December 26, 2014 at her home in Montgomery City, Missouri.
Janet Lee Zuwmalt was born September 16, 1932 in High Hill, Missouri, to Steve Smith and Florence Brockman Smith. She graduated from Montgomery City High School in 1950 in Montgomery City, Missouri.  Janet married Robert Schroeder and together they had one daughter, Brenda. Janet later married Charles August Zumwalt on April 29, 1967 at the First Baptist Church in Montgomery City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1996. Janet worked at Beacon Shoe Company in Jonesburg, Missouri, as a shoe stamper. She also had worked for the R.C. Spires Insurance Company in Montgomery City.  Janet was a member of the First United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Montgomery City, Missouri; a member of the Red Hat Club; and a member of the Loutre Valley Camping Club. She also enjoyed dancing, embroidery work especially quilting; music; and enjoyed going to the Montgomery County Senior Center.  Janet also loved to visit with her family and friends.
Mrs. Zumwalt is survived by her daughter, Brenda Babb and husband, Edward, of Farber, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jennifer Dubbert and husband, Kevin, of Laddonia, Missouri; Belinda Babb, of Rolla, Missouri; and Jason Babb and wife, Cara, of Jacksonville, Illinois; and three great-grandchildren: Joseph and Kasey Dubbert, of Laddonia, Missouri; and Amelia Grace Babb, of Jacksonville, Illinois. Also surviving is a niece-in-law, Margie Knipmeyer of Quincy, Illinois; special friend, Lora Mae Cleeton of Montgomery City, Missouri; and numerous friends. Mrs. Zumwalt was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Vernabell Knipmeyer and husband, Merrill; and nephew, James Knipmeyer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri.  The Rev. Kenneth Cleeton will officiate and interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in High Hill, Missouri.
Visitation was held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, Missouri. Casketbearers include Jason Babb, Kevin Dubbert, David Barker, Leo Hendricks, Paul Evans, and Pat Gruber. Honorary casketbearers include Kenneth and Lora Mae Cleeton, Joseph Dubbert, Kasey Dubbert, Amelia Grace Babb, and Paula Gruber.
