James Walter Christensen

James Walter (Jay) Christensen age 83 of Bowling Green, passed away Saturday February 11, 2012 at the Country View Nursing Home in Bowling Green.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday February 14, 2012 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Rev. Robert Warren officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green. Visitation for Mr. Christensen was held from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born September 23, 1928 in Vandalia, the son of Walter Bot and Ercie Loene James Christensen. On April 14, 1957 in Louisiana he married Laura Olivia (Ginger) Walker. She preceded him in death January 28, 2007.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Jay Christensen and wife, Cindy, of Bowling Green, Daniel Ray Christensen and wife, Karen, of Jackson; five grandchildren, Courtney Bowen and husband, Michael, of Albuquerque, N.M., Josh Christensen of Bowling Green, Kylie, Kelsie and Kameron Christensen of Jackson; one brother, Dean Christensen, of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Rose Wasson and husband, Richard, of Center; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Christensen lived in Vandalia and Bowling Green all of his life. He worked as a salesman and bookkeeper for Kolb Oil Co. and Welch Tire Co. in Bowling Green for many years and in later years he was employed with Orscheln as sales clerk for 10 years. He loved collecting knives, fishing, hunting and wood crafting. He also liked flying in his families’ antique airplane.
He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was baptized at the Friendship Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Worsham, Mike Beddies, Kent Betts, Brian Horton, Richie Wasson and Bruce Wisdom.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Melanoma Research.
