Mr. James Raymond Sumner, 49, of Vandalia, Missouri, formerly of Louisiana, Missouri, passed away Monday May 12, 2014 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Donnie Hannell will officiate. Visitation were held from 10 a.m. until time of services at l p.m. Friday, May 16 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jordan-Buffalo Cemetery in Louisiana, Missouri.
He was born April 11, 1965 in Columbia, Missouri the son of William and Marilyn Smith Sumner.
He married Kimberly Kay Morton November 10, 1990 in Yuma, Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly K. Sumner of the home, one son; Zachary Wayne Sumner of Vandalia, Missouri, two daughters; Geordie Resor (Robert) of Vandalia, Missouri and Miranda Sumner and Jordan Anderson of Louisiana, Missouri, his mother, Marilyn Chandler of Bellflower, Missouri, Father and Mother in-law; Don and Mary Morton of Louisiana, Missouri, Foster father; Robert Rucker of Clarksville, Missouri, 5 grandchildren; Alicia, Saxton, Bretley, Hannah and Aidyn, 3 brothers; Jon Sumner of the State of Florida, William Sumner of Hannibal, Missouri and Henry Sumner of Wellsville, Missouri, nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Sumner, Foster mother; Joann Rucker and a grandmother, Ethel Sumner.
James graduated from the Clopton High School at Clarksville, Missouri in 1984. He was a veteran serving with the United States Army.
He had been employed as a Truck Driver for Circle W Trucking Company.
Pallbearers were Zachary Sumner, James Patrick, Robert Resor, Jordan Anderson, Geordie Resor, Don Morton, Jr. and Jon Sumner.
